Beautiful hotel, stunning views, great location.

Pros: Gorgeous, cosy hotel. Beautiful room, excellent staff and breakfast.

Cons: Could do with some tlc in some areas, just a bit of maintenance here and there to keep it up to spec. But nothing that detracts from how lovely it is.

Fabulous location, great food, well stocked bar, lovely rooms friendly staff

Pros: Great location, lovely room with a view, lovely eating areas, friendly staff.

Cons: No BBC1 available. IPlayer app not available!

A good base for the local fells and a comfortable stay.

Pros: A beautiful setting, friendly staff and good food at sensible prices. Able to accommodate my GF needs. Only there for one night but would certainly return. Comfy bed.

Cons: The shower wasn't great but it is a very old building and probably this limits options for some of the rooms. This wasn't a deal breaker though.

Great hotel, fix the WiFi

Pros: A really great place to stay. Comfortable, clean and welcoming. Close to nice walks and village. Recommended.

Cons: The WiFi. God, the WiFi is terrible. Bad downstairs, non-existent in our bedroom. Such a pity because often the first thing you do when arriving is to enter the WiFi code. You immediately get a bad impression and in this case it's very misleading because the hotel is wonderful. FIX THE WIFI!

Lovely hotel in an amazing location, food also very good.

Pros: Public areas were lovely, breakfast and location were great and fantastic Sunday roast.

Cons: Bathroom in the bedroom was far too small, shower was very poor, especially for this level of hotel. The noise from water pipes in other rooms was very loud, especially in the middle of the night.

Pros: The location is beautiful. We park up the car for 4 nights and walk from the hotel each day. The breakfasts are wonderful.

Would Heartily Recommend

Pros: The accommodation was very good and both the evening meal and breakfast were excellent. We most certainly will return.

Cons: Could not use my I Pad as no internet connection. The geographical situation of the hotel obviously presents great difficulties.

We'd certainly stay again, but would ensure we picked the best room for our requirements

Pros: Excellent food throughout, extremely helpful manager and friendly staff. Lovely village location. Room itself, and bed in particular, comfortable, with the caveat of the comments made below.

Cons: It was not clear, certainly not on booking.com, that the room did not have a shower, only a stand-alone rolltop bath located within the room, with a small loo and basin separately. Just saying it has a bath doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't have a shower. When we mentioned this, the manager bent over backwards to find a way of us being able to shower, even though the hotel was full. There are rooms with full, modern ensuite facilities so if that's what you want make sure to book the right room. The wi-fi is very weak and at times drops out. While this is not the fault of the hotel, which has 5 routers, I think it should be made clear both on booking.com and the hotel website. Perhaps satellite broadband would be an option for the hotel to consider.

Lovely location and country house feel

Pros: Lovely location. Feelers like staying in a large country home rather than in a hotel. Staff were nice ….but sometimes hard to find. Very quiet overall….soot someone wanting a reserved quiet break.
