The Traveller's Rest

Wonderful!

Pros: Beautiful location, this old Pub was just what we were looking for on a cold wet day. We were welcomed by a fantastic host and a roaring fire. Everything about The Travellers Rest was excellent and would highly recommend!

Lovely welcoming pub, cosy, great food, high quality room decor and styling.

Pros: Friendly staff, cosy atmosphere, lovely room decor, artwork and furniture, and modern bathroom. Really great quality food, we absolutely loved our evening meal.

Cons: The bedrooms are so close to the main road and only have single glazed windows, so every car that passes at quite high speed is noisy (particularly when raining). Is there any way that secondary glazing could be added to help sound proof the rooms, that would help? But I still got a good night's sleep - luckily the traffic volume reduced right down at night time.

Excellent Stay and Meal

Pros: A really lovely pub. We stayed in a twin room which was clean , well furnished and had a comfortable bed. Plenty of hot water for showers. Had a lovely meal in restaurant .Customer service was 1st class.

Pros: Beautiful location, cosy places to sit, lovely room, comfortable bed and great en suite, friendly staff.

Cons: Nude pictures in the bedroom.

Pros: Really nice, really cozy, staff were great and the food was excellent

Cons: Although the room was really nice, unfortunately the windows let too much road noise

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and value for money. Very friendly staff and helpful. Booking again .

Pros: Excellent..Breakfast and evening meals. Could do with a coffee machine for breakfast.

Cons: Definitely need for lighting in the restaurant for evening meals.

Fab 1 night stay with a dog

Pros: The staff are very friendly, it's lovely and clean, the restaurant downstairs is lovely and quaint. A short walk into Grasmere, a very scenic location, good free parking, dog friendly for 10 pound extra. Pretty decor, hot strong shower and a comfy bed :)

Pros: The bed was one of the most comfortable beds ive ever slept in...the location was stunning.

Cons: Having to leave

First class accomodation with super food, highly recommended.

Pros: I loved the location, the very friendly and helpful staff and the excellent food at an extremely reasonable rate and I would definitely recommend this hotel. My room was also spotless and had a great view of the fells. My visit was affected by my knee problem but I hope to return soon.

Cons: The stairs to upper floor/rooms BUT only because I had suffered a knee strain the day before which got progressively worse during my stay. They would not have been an issue for me normally
