The Munches Room at Buittle Castle

Enjoyable and relaxing stay

Pros: The host was very polite and caring. The room was clean and beautifully decorated, we felt like we were back in time. We were able to enjoy the hot tub under the stars, which was so romantic.

Well worth a visit

Pros: The host Tobias, was utterly charming ,welcoming and very attentive a true Gentleman. The room was beautiful, quirky and warm with a very comfortable bed.Lots of interesting books ,complimentary sherry tea and coffee .A very stylish bathroom with large shower and a beautiful marble floor.The garden and surroundings were stunning even in the winter cold.There is a shortish walk around the boundary ,along the river and back if you are lucky the resident Peacock is available for Photos.

Cons: Not a dislike ,just as a large and typically greedy man ,I particularly love my food ,the breakfast was tasty but on the small side for me , which was a shame ,the room we ate in was spectacular but so cold we could see our breaths ok for me but my wife was frozen ,in hindsight we should have eaten in our bedroom as this is an option.

Pros: Good communication with the manager, Tobias from the start. Great location for exploring south Galloway. Unique and comfortable accommodation. Table d'hote was excellent, as was breakfast.

An amazing place. Great attention to detail, attentive host and wonderful history. Will certainly come again.

Buittle Castle is a unique location and our hosts high standard of hospitality reflected this.

Pros: The breakfast was excellent, beautifully served on fine bone china and exactly as we had ordered. The Great Hall where breakfast was served and the Munches Room gave us a true experience of the important family and Scottish history associated with the Castle.

Cons: The bathroom pipe work was a little noisy when sink and toilet was used, perhaps an airlock.

Pros: Everything! If you enjoy history you will be in awe of how tastefully decorated. Bed extremely comfy and wonderful shower in the bathroom. Hot tub added touch of bliss. Breakfast excellent and at exact time with the clocks! Tobias was a wonderful host and couldn't do enough for us and generous with his time and knowledge. We came away feeling like we were Lord and Lady. Definitely value for money, if anything underpriced.

A real retreat we hope to return.

Pros: It was set in such a beautiful rural location. The history of the castle was fascinating, the owners have decorated it in such a way it completely complements its history. Tobias went to such trouble to ensure our stay was comfortable and we had everything we needed.

Cons: There was nothing we didn’t like .

Lovely setting, comfortable room and bed, great breakfast. Friendly and polite staff.

Pros: Lovely big room, very interesting setting. Lovely being by the river,

Cons: There was a wasps nest in the roof by our window so there were some wasps in the room but I managed to remove them.

We enjoyed staying in a fabulous historical building and grounds.

Pros: We enjoyed the location, the size of the room and decor. Tobias was very friendly and helpful.
