A welcoming traditional hotel with caring staff and excellent service.

Pros: There were many thoughtful touches in this hotel, for example a mirror placed between sockets that was perfect for hairdryer use. Bathrobes. Full length mirror excellent for guests dressing for special occasions.

Cons: Just a small point but didn’t like the position of the smoke (or other alarm) in the ceiling which was within our line of vision when in bed . Its sensor light flashed red every few seconds and kept one of us awake periodically during the night.

Superb

Pros: I’ve stayed here 3 times now and would not go anywhere else in Dumfries, I travel all over Scotland with work and this is 1 of the best hotels we have stayed in.

Cons: Everything from the rooms to the beds, the staff and the breakfast is superb

Pros: Very nice place to stay close to Dumfries centre. The owners were terrific. Breakfast was good.

Cons: Better quality of eggs for breakfast! I worried about the chickens that produced such pale yolks..

Lovely hotel

Pros: Helpful, friendly proprietor. Carried our cases to the room. Lovely breakfast. Nothing too much trouble.

Cons: Shower and shower gels very high, this is only a minor comment.

Lovely friendly Hotel

Pros: Lovely traditional hotel. Very clean and quiet location. The weather was particularly hot but a fan was provided in the room which was perfect. Staff are very friendly and keen to do anything for you. Excellent walking access into Dumfries. Plenty of parking on site.

Cons: Our room was quite small with twin beds i wasn't expecting. The bathroom was fine but the shower over the bath flooded the floor each time as couldn't adjust the shower head to point downwards to avoid this.
