Pros: The food here is excellent. I normally prefer to eat out, but this is the rare hotel where the restaurant is worth eating in. The room was great - really comfortable, wonderfully presented, and with a brilliant bathroom. The staff were on the whole wonderful. Very friendly and professional. Looking forward to returning. Will definitely recommend.

Cons: There was a younger member of staff serving us who really didn't seem to be having a good day. Fair enough - we're all human, but she did let it transfer into strangely cold and sometimes almost distainful service which was a shame. Everyone else was fabulous though so it was a small thing.

A Gem

Pros: The fact we were returning to this hotel for the fourth time and as we left rebooked for October is the clearest indication of our feelings about this hotel. We’ve always loved it. It marks a good stopping point for our journey between Notts and Skye. We love that we feel so immediately at ease and comfortable. The rooms are lovely , the food very good and the staff delightful ( Amy is particular helpful and friendly). We have family in the area and it is a mark of the high esteem that is held in locally that my uncle is having a big birthday lunch there in October. Thornhill itself is delightful and the hotel very centrally situated. Warmly recommended.
