Smiths At Gretna Green Hotel

Lovely comfortable cottage with less noise than a hotel in the middle of the night.

Pros: We stayed in one of the cottages across the road from the main hotel. Thankfully, as we heard other guests at breakfast saying that other unthoughtful and inconsiderate guests made their night unbearable with the level of partying and noise. I appreciate that weddings are taking place most of the time and so it is expected that guests are partying but not at 3am in the morning. We heard guests slamming their front doors around the same time and then arguing. However, extremely comfortable beds and pillows and a great shower made the rest of the night.

Cons: The furniture in our cottage (no. 3) was damaged, which again is down to unrespectful behaviour of previous guests but it doesn’t look very nice when you’ve just checked in. Basic breakfast, not much variety if you like fresh fruit.

Pros: Very clean, and room was cosy. Staff were friendly especially whilst we were attending our daughters wedding

Cons: Our room was at the back so road noice was a bit noisy

Just got married but just wish this hotel would consider a extension of rooms or day room extensions

Pros: Was lovely just wish they had a extended day room as we were a wedding party group and wedding was late afternoon and we had to be out rooms by 11 am …

Enjoyed our stay and will be back evening meal was very good cottage we stayed in was lovely.

Pros: Breakfast was nice buffet was not run as well as you would have expected ;the chef was not in control of the situation.

Cons: If the kitchen staff were on top of it the waiting staff would not be filling the buffet and would be able to carry out their own tasks.

Pros: Our cottage which was number 1, was huge, fresh and everything we needed for a family of 5 for a nye night away. Would love to stay in this cottage again.

Cons: Cobwebs on ceilings, larger bin for kitchen please
