Beautiful place, but please read the review before staying

Pros: Lovely, cosy cottage. In a almost isolated location with beautiful surroundings. Comfortable, clean and relaxing. Loved the heated stone floors and general character of the place. Plenty of towels and the beds were comfy enough. Lots of walks and fascinating nature around. Enjoyed watching the bats at dusk.

Cons: We'd happily stay again, but things of note are... It's really important to highlight that you can't drink the water here as it's drawn straight from a holding tank off of a tarn (you can boil it first, but it's yellow, so...). Take your own drinking water! Thankfully, another review said this, so we went prepared. 1 loo roll in each bathroom is a bit optimistic for 3 adults for a week. Whilst we appreciate the safety, we had to giggle at the smoke detector being placed directly above the toaster and cooker. We quickly learned to get in a routine of opening the doors and windows when cooking.

Pros: Stunning remote location with lovely back of house garden.

Pros: The apartment was lovely! Super clean, nice garden and had everything you could possibly need, even a dishwasher! The bathrooms were fantastic as well, clearly newly redone.

Cons: The location is lovely and quiet, but a bit out of the way and the road up is a somewhat annoying one lane wide road. But it didn't bother us and there's lovely walks around.

A most enjoyable stay thank you, very comfortable, clean and quiet.

Pros: It was so peaceful and quiet with only the sound of the sheep. Great that there were two full bathrooms and it was very comfortable and clean.

Cons: I think a warning in the details would have been useful about the drinking water. Fortunately we had brought our own water as we were in the lakes for a sporting event so it wasn’t an issue.

Lovely location, plenty of walks from the house, very quiet and peaceful

Pros: Beautiful location, characterful cottage, plenty of room.

Cons: Wi fi and television/telephone signal poor but given the location I’m not surprised!

Lovely cottage in a remote location, perfect for walking holiday in the lakes.

Pros: A very comfortable and cosy cottage with everything you need for your stay. We stayed for 2 nights over New Year and despite the bad weather had a lovely time. Made full use of the kitchen to cook a meal and went out on a couple of walks.

Cons: On arrival we noticed a sign that said do not drink the water. It would have been useful to give us a heads up as we would have brought bottled water for cold drinks. Boiled water in tea etc was fine. The narrow road up to the cottage is tricky in the dark and rain if you meet a vehicle coming the other way.

Excellent lovely house good facilities beautiful views.

Pros: Location was quite far away from Coniston. The road to the property is narrow and quite steep. There were a couple of nasty potholes.

Cons: The access road. The second bathroom shower was scalding hot.
