We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the food was very good.

Cons: A bit too many spiderwebs all around, in need of a refreshment but still cosy and beautiful.

Comfortable relaxed stay

Pros: The bed was very comfy, staff nice , lovely fire and. atmosphere Location good close to Ennerdale Lake . Restaurant food and bar very good.

Cons: Bath didn’t work Had packed lunch but appeared pricey for what was in it and no fruit .

Pros: Beautiful building, lovely gardens, sitting outside with a glass of wine was very relaxing. There is a good bar inside too. Evening meals were excellent, really very good indeed - there was a great chef at work. The staff were very good and kind, they handled a difficult situation we witnessed with care and empathy.

Cons: There's not much around, the nice-looking nearby pub on Google closed years ago. The room was a bit basic, the TV tiny, but fine really. The packed lunch was overpriced and underwhelming. Breakfast wasn't very good at all.

Great for a night on the C2C

Pros: The food and real ale was good. The room was fine and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful

Cons: No plug point near the kettle! We got around it by relocating. It looks a little tired on the outside but inside is fine.

Hidden Gem, Highly recommended

Pros: Wow! Hidden Gem. First of all I would like to say a massive thank you to Rachel. I was there to visit my Dad's grave. She was so understanding and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. She went above and beyond to make my stay very memorable, even upgraded my room to make my stay as comfortable as possible. Her kind words and understanding at a difficult time made it easier to relax. Thank you Rachel, you are a credit to the hotel. All the staff were polite and friendly, other hotels could learn from the staff here how to treat guests. Everyone was made to feel special and not just another booking. The food was amazing and tasted delicious, with great choice of menu. I would highly recommend this hotel. The warm welcome and relaxing atmosphere, really is a credit to the hospitality industry.
