Rowan Cottage

Pros: The cottage was very clean and very well equipped. Its central location within the village makes it an ideal place to stay. I loved that the cottage had been tastefully decorated while retaining period features

Good enough cottage

Pros: Quirkey cottage in fantastic location. When the heating was turned on it was really cosy. It was not by any means luxury, but it was good value for money, and we had a ball.

Cons: Cottage really does need upgrading, in particular the electric showers, both toilet flushes and general furniture including the double bed and mattress.

Better than expected: we really enjoyed this quirky cottage

Pros: We loved this cottage which was in a superb location in the centre of Grasmere village. The parking was 2 minutes walk away, and it was no problem to park outside the front door to drop bags off. This is a quirky character upside down cottage. Having the kitchen and living room upstairs worked perfectly and created a lovely ambience looking down onto the road and people walking by. There is an additional upstairs bathroom which is useful. It is cozy and traditional inside: the bright open spaces are in the countryside and village outdoors. The 3 bedrooms downstairs are all a good size. It was exciting to discover the hidden 3rd bedroom. This house is good value for money and we really enjoyed it.

Lovely cottage in a great location

Pros: We loved Rowan Cottage, it has good facilities and great position in the village and even though my wife had recently had a knee replacement she managed the stairs.

Cons: We had difficulty reaching the management company and the washing machine was blocked and with clothes still in it.

Lovely charming cottage in a great location

Pros: Lovely cottage in an excellent location right in the centre of Grasmere which is a fantastic base for the Lakes. Everything was very clean and it was well kitted out. The room layout is a bit quirky but this added to the charm.

Pros: Great location. Lovely property with spacious, comfortable accommodation. Well equipped.

Great location in a quaint village in a beautiful part of the Lake District

Pros: Perfect location for the activities we had planned. Lovely little village We liked that the bedrooms were downstairs so no need to lug heavy suitcases upstairs! Helpful having 2 bathrooms and 2 loos. The owners had left lots of helpful notes/big file, walking sticks and even boots (we didn't need them but I thought it was cute) And the parking permit came in very useful in a couple of carparks in the area!

Cons: The second double bedroom was tiny...luckily we didn't have 2 people sharing it but it would be a bit tight if there had been 6of us instead of 5! An airing clothes horse to help dry our wetsuits would have been really helpful.

For walking and exploring, this home is ideal, i would willingly stay again.

Pros: Everything, A house with bags of character and central to everything we needed.

Cons: Not much, maybe a new handle on the toilet cistern.

Cosy place for stay for local walks

Pros: Plenty of space for everyone. Clean and tidy. Kitchen well equipment. Plenty of coffee making kit. Good location for walks. Comes with 1 car parking pass. Easy to find.

Cons: TV was a little small for the size of the front room. Radio didn’t work in in the kitchen.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend Rowan Cottage.

Pros: Well equipped for self catering. Great location for the village, walks, buses. Car park pass saved the worry of finding somewhere at a reasonable rate. Able to stop by Rowan cottage to unload and re-load the car. Lovely view as living area upstairs.

Cons: Lounge a bit gloomy at times but that is really due to the style of cottage being old.
