Pros: Good location for the wedding we were going to in the area. It was large in rooms size & we enjoyed our time that we spent there.

Cons: Overall, it was a good place to stay, but the experience beforehand was a bit stressful due to poor communication. Late check-out wasn’t an option, which was fine, but the process of arranging key collection caused some unnecessary stress. I had been advised to contact the owner at least 48 hours in advance to sort out the keys, which I did — but I didn’t hear back until less than 24 hours before we were due to leave for the trip. This lack of communication wasn’t ideal, especially as we were travelling from Glasgow without a driver, and it left us feeling uneasy before setting off. The stay itself was nice, but the communication could definitely have been better.

Great holiday

Pros: Good location, lots of local walks and a handy shop close by for essentials

Cons: nothing that I didn't like about the property or the area

A peaceful and relaxing week in a quiet and scenic location

Pros: Gatehouse of Fleet is a modestly sized village, and very quiet as a result. The local facilities were excellent however, with everything we could want. We ate out at two of the village pubs.

Cons: An information pack might help. For example, we could understand the recycling bins as they were clearly labelled, but were weren't sure what to do with general waste.

Comfortable stay in the heart of Gatehouse of Fleet

Pros: Gatehouse of Fleet is a beautiful place to stay. I know the area very well so was able to access all the places I wanted to visit (Newton Stewart, Kirkcudbright, Castle Douglas) but was lovely to pop out to The Ship and The Murray Arms for a drink in the evening and then return home to cook tea. Laurel Bank is very comfortable and has everything needed. To enable an efficient leave before 10am, we packed the car and went for breakfast at The Galloway Lodge.

Cons: There were just a few, small niggly bits that meant I could not rate the stay higher. The front door was difficult to open and shut. The lock on the back door stopped working and after a bit of work on it, we got the door shut and did not dare use it again. There was a strong smell of dog in the living room. The blind in the bathroom did not fit the window - it was too short. Could not get the bottom section of the oven to work.
