Peace and quiet in comfort !
Pros: No breakfast but then it was self catering accommodation. The property was cosy and relaxing in a fantastic location. Clean and tidy and with a log burner , what's not to like ? Definitely recommend to everyone with the exception of the infirm or disabled , steep stairs ! Downstairs toilet is a bonus though ! The cottage is well equipped nevertheless and a panoramic view of Bassenthwaite to the hills beyond.
Cons: Parking is a problem with no dedicated space at the property.....

Pros: The house was warm and comfortable (even on cold wet days !), with great views of lakeland fells. There were lots of scenic walks within a short drive, e.g. Dodds Wood was only a 5 minute drive and offerered 4 well marked walks of differing lengths and gradients. Bassenthwaite village was a starting point for the ascent of Skiddaw. The interesting town of Keswick was 10 minutes drive away (for cheapest parking we would recommend using the honesty box at the Keswick Football Club car park - they request a donation of Β£4 for all day parking).
Cons: Re the property: Having to park in the nearby layby rather than at the property was a slight concern incase there were no spaces in the layby. It would be useful to have known there are no basic condiments at the property e.g. salt, pepper, cooking oil etc -- so bring everything you may need. Re the location: We were unable to find any walks that started at the property, but there may have been some. It is not possible to walk around Bassenthwaite lake as much of the land is privately owned. Most car parks in the area are quite expensive (owned by either the National Trust or the Forestry Commission) , and not all accept notes or cards, and some don't use parking apps - take some Β£1 coins with you just incase.

The Tootsie is a clean, well equipped home from home with stunning views.
Pros: The location and views were just amazing. The cottage was really old with uneven walls and floors but this added to the character. Kitchen clean and well equipped. Bathroom beautiful.
Cons: Sofas could possibly do with a good clean or updating but were comfortable. Everything is supplied for a fire in the wood burner which is great except for matches to light it with!! Maybe have a stock of these available or a lighter that works.

Pros: Beautiful location, within walking distance of Bassenthwaite
Cons: Garden grass was very long - neighbour reported it hadn't been cut for 8 months. Single beds quite creaky.

Beautiful stay in an idyllic location.
Pros: Location is excellent, lovely views and very peaceful. Had excellent weather whilst visiting apart from the day we arrived as it rained all day. Log burner was good and a small portable heater was provided. Went to use the garden to take advantage of the sun and the views, lovely and peaceful whilst drinking a G&T (or two). We would go back again as the size and location of the property was absolutely ideal, loved it. Sun pub in the village was welcoming and did good food.
Cons: On arriving there was no heating on in the property as it's economy seven heaters. Think a couple of the heaters weren't working as even after a day or two, no heat came from them (one in the kitchen and one in main bedroom). The grass hadn't been cut and was slightly overgrown.

Pros: I loved the window view, went for a writing retreat and enjoyed my time there so much - I did not even want to step out and enjoyed just watching the landscape out of the window
Cons: One radiator didn't work. But there was an electric one, so this fixed the issue

Beautiful views, great location
Pros: Great location, very clean, beautiful views, perfect for exploring the Lakes
Cons: Only minor, it wouldβve been nice if the storage heaters had been switched on the day before our arrival, we had to switch them on, which was fine but anyone who knows storage heaters knows the heat doesnβt appear until the following day which meant the house was freezing when we arrived, the fire and plug in heater helped.

We would highly recommend the Tottsie- it was perfect for us !
Pros: The Tottsie was in the most perfect location, we couldn't have asked for a better view. The cottage itself was exactly what we liked- quirky, historic ( 17th Century ), comfortable.
Cons: The fact that the garden behind the Tottsie belonged to the neighbouring cottage. The Tottsie's garden was at the end of the cottages.

Quaint, comfy stay with a couple of drawbacks
Pros: Stunning location and the cottage had a comfortable, lived-in feel that meant you could relax. It had a lovely layout and was spacious for a cottage of its type. It had everything you need for a stay away, the kitchen had plenty of bits and bobs.
Cons: The lack of parking adjacent to the property is a little annoying, but equally, I never struggled to get parked where directed to. Also, the garden not being accesible directly via the cottage was inconvenient, especially when staying with a dog. The upstairs shower was very delicate and didn't drain very quickly so in the end I used the downstairs bath for the rest of my stay.
